《简爱:JANE EYRE(英文原版)》读后感100字
It really took me quite a well to read this supposedly girlish novel. Words about this novel began to stir in my ears ever since I was in junior high, and most of them came from young girls who just started to touch upon the topic of love. From that point on, this book was put up high in the shelve of my reading list, waiting to be left till eternity. If it wasn’t for the sake of improving, as well as maintaining, my English skill, I couldn’t consider it’s a pity to not open this book.
Luckily, reading through it has proved me wrong. Despite the unfamiliar style of writing and a rather distinct social background the novel based upon, it is more like an advice given to the past education insitution, a thoughtful reflection of the social barrier existed at the that time, a consideration between religious and secular life, a provoking inspiration to rebel against the traditional ownership of women by men, than a simple love story. Whats more, this love story is a one that sets woman equal to man when the whole society is another way around. What seems to be quite a prerequisite thing to have in today’s love was actually a taboo back then. It took courage and imagination to put forward this unique love plot by a female author. Besides the plot, Jane, the protagonist, withholds many characteristics, such as kind, independent, self-empowement, bravery and etc. which are still highly regarded today. No wonder many young girls now still treat Jane as their role model.
Nevertheless, as a single man who is almost thrity, it happened several times that I grew bored with the tender love and pschological details Jane faces in the novel during my reading. Romantic love might already lost its affection for a man like me. The practical stuff is the formost thing to be dealed with. Furthermore, recent ages have seen a growing anxiety with the rise of media all around us. The more we know and the more we get exposed to the news, the less stable our emotions could keep. I wonder whether a person like Jane could still choose a one, like Mr. Rochester, and live a regretless life ever after in this vibrant era.
Overall, a good book for learning English and a guide book to be an independent woman, but a boring one for those careless rough man like me.
